On Thursday, 7 minutes of audio recordings between Flight MH370 and air traffic controllers in Malaysia were released. The tapes are the final communications with the plane before it disappeared two months ago. However, NBC News is reporting that the tapes seem to have been edited. Their analysts discovered at least four clear breaks in the audio, showing that the original recording had been altered. According to audio-video forensic expert Ed Primeau:
“At approximately 1:14 (a minute, 14 seconds into the audio, which can be heard here), the tone of the recording change to where to me, it sounds like someone is holding a digital recorder up to a speaker, so it’s a microphone-to-speaker transfer of that information. That’s a pretty big deal because it raises the first red flag about there possibly being some editing.”
“I can hear noise in the room, along with the increase in the noise floor. I can hear a file door being closed, I can hear some papers being shuffled. so I’m further convinced that, beginning at 1:14 continuing through 2:06 to 2:15, it’s a digital recorder being held up to a speaker.”
“But yet, at 6:17, there’s a huge edit because the conversation is cut off. It’s interrupted. And the tone changes again,” he said. “The noise floor, when you’re authenticating a recording from a forensic perspective, is a very important part of the process. All of a sudden, we go back to the same quality and extremely low noise floor that we had at the beginning of the recording.”
So, it seems that parts of the tape were cut out and other parts may have been fabricated completely. The omissions and changes raise the question as to what the pilots was really saying in the final minutes of communication. At 6:17, as the expert states, there is a huge edit in the audio. That is towards the end of the conversation. Is it possible that the pilot let it slip that he had plans to crash the plane into a populated area? As each day passes and the evidence of a cover-up becomes more evident, I am more inclined to think that the 777 was shot down by the Malaysian military or another military working on their behalf. If the pilot was turning the plane into a weapon, bringing it down would have been the only way to prevent greater loss of life. Perhaps I’m wrong, but there is definitely something going on that isn’t being revealed to the public.
