Politico’s Maggie Haberman showed up on CNN Sunday to admit that even Democrats now acknowledge that Barack Obama’s economic message isn’t working. One reason for the disconnect is abundantly clear: jobs.
While the administration touted last week’s announcement that the unemployment rate fell from 6.7% in March to 6.3% in April, the primary factor in the decline was this: more than 800,000 people either stopped looking for a job or left the job market altogether.
Anyway, do the math: The administration claims 288,000 jobs were created in April, but the 800,000 pushes the total number of Americans not in the labor force to a record high 92,594,000.
If you were a Democrat, would you run on these numbers?
