No. 2 House Republican to Leave Leadership Post Before Year’s End

WASHINGTON—Rep. Eric Cantor (R., Va.) will step down early from his post as majority leader, following his unexpected primary defeat.
Mr. Cantor is expected to discuss his plans to leave his post before year’s end with House Republicans later on Wednesday, according to GOP leadership aides and people familiar with his decision. It was not immediately clear when he would vacate his post.
